Marc-Andre Fleury did what he needed to do last night and that was stand tall and keep the Penguins in the game and give them the chance to win. He wasn't the only Penguins player to have a big night one Bill Guerin netted the first and last goals of the evening for the Pens. After the Flyers got up to a one goal lead late in the first the Penguins continued to attack and deployed the two-headed monster on the ice in the second period and it paid divedends immediatley as Geno, Sid, and Guerin broke away down ice and tied up the game at 1 a piece.

The Flyers were not to be out done early in the third they managed to get a spectacular shot off from an unlikely suspect in Darroll Powe and go up by one again, but as the Penguins continued to attack the composure of the Flyers began to break down again as the found themselves in the box and allowing Evgeni Malkin to redirect a puck in behind Marty Biron. This would be the momentum shifter the Penguins needed in the game as the final seconds ticked away in the third and an overtime period loomed both teams sprinted from end to end trying to score the last goal and avoid OT, No Dice.

In the overtime period the Flyers had some chances but it was mostly all Pittsburgh until Hal Gill took a cross-checking penalty allowing the Flyers on the Power Play. The Flyers would relenquish the man advantage when Mike Knuble dished out a cross-check of his own on Brooks Orpik in front of the net, and 30 seconds later Giroux would pick up a slashing penalty for breaking the stick of Chris Kunitz while he was streaking down the ice for what may have been the game winner. This sealed the Flyers fate in this matchup as the Penguins had an extended 5-on-3 to work with which they cashed in with another goal from Bill Guerin to put the Pens up 2-0 on the Flyers in the series heading into game 3 in Philly.
