It is currently being reported that defenseman Jay Mckee is close to or has already signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since the St. Louis Blues bought out his contract he will still be receiving a paycheck from them so don't look for the cap strapped Penguins to be spending any big bucks on signing him. In his last season with the Blues McKee put up some pretty decent numbers, he was a +11 with 185 blocked shots, don't go expecting big offensive numbers out of this guy because that is not his game. His best offensive year came in 1999-2000 when he had 5 goals and 12 assists, last year he only had 1 goal and 7 assists so he is more of a defensivw defenseman which is something the Penguins need after losing Hal Gill and Rob Scuderi in free agency.
